Speaker, Business Coach, and Community Leader
Jamie Taras knows what it takes to win.
For 16 years, he channeled his energy and talent into becoming the best professional athlete he could be. Playing his entire career with the BC Lions and winning two Grey Cups and numerous awards along the way, he learned to lead, overcome adversity and be a true team player. “There is no greater thrill than being part of a team that has struggled, surmounted obstacles, grown together and ultimately captured the goal it set out to achieve,” Jamie told an audience at one of hundreds of captivating presentations he’s delivered on mastery, leadership and teamwork. “It’s an experience you cherish for a lifetime.” The B.C. Lions Dream Team and Lion’s Ring of Honour inductee knows first-hand that high-performance teams require a great deal of commitment and hard work, and must follow certain guiding principles. Now he passionately shares those winning values, philosophies and experiences with organizations so they too can perform at higher levels. |
Jamie’s also been granted many awards for his determination off the field, including: the Volunteer Vancouver Award (2006) for his tireless community involvement; Gord Barwell Award (2001) for his exemplary Christian character and conduct; and the Tom Pate Award (1999), which recognized him as the CFL’s top player for outstanding sportsmanship, team leadership, service to the league and contribution to the community. He was nominated for this award five times during his professional football career.
Jamie remains active in the community as a Director for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver, a member of Athletes in Action (AIA) and a speaker with the Esteem Team, an athlete role model program. On the business front, the University of Western Ontario graduate is Vice-President of the Canadian Football League Players Association and Business Advisor at Wardell Professional Development. He resides in White Rock, B.C. with his wife Jennifer, daughter Sydney and son William. |
